I have MATE installed on a MBPro and I followed instructions posted here on setting up "macfanctrl" . . . but the fans seem to blow louder and more frequently even with it compared to OSX 10.9. I recently saw a post on the U-MATE community about using "mate-sensors-applet" . . . so I looked through my applications and didn't see it. I tried to launch it using the terminal and it said "command not found." Then I searched it in synaptics and it showed that "mate-sensors-applet" was installed . . . is there any way to get this applet to show up?
Or, since I have macfancntrl set up already that prevents the "mate-sensor-applet" from showing up? It does seem like "heat" is an issue for intel Macs, and I have a MP that I'd like to get MATE installed on, and get it set up to handle the fans such that it is efficient, but simple???
