Project: install Ubuntu 12.04 on macbook pro (along with osx)
What i've done:
installed rEffit, installed Ubuntu 10 (because i was out of dvds and booting from a usb is its own hassle on a MBP)
Upgraded to 11
restart
upgraded to 12.04
installed wireless firmware
restart
**upon restart it only boots to the command line. Asks for the user info, etc.***
tried recovery to graphics safe mode -freezes
tried purging and re-installing graphics drivers -no change
tried installing and starting X (Fatal server error), GNU(claims to laugh but doesn't), Ubuntu-desktop, etc
Have no idea what else i can try. please advise.
NOTE: when i go into the recovery partition and immediately select "boot normally" the GUI does load and i can use everything normally.
Is there any way to revert to a previous installation?
