I am hoping someone will be able to help. I have spent the best part of several days searching the internet and trying various "fixes" to no avail.
I have a Macmini2,1 mid-2007 with Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 @ 1.8 Ghz.
I have installed ubuntu 16.4.02 LTS as OS X is no longer supported and I cannot get "new" versions of web browsers or LibreOffice etc any longer but I do not feel there is anything wrong with the hardware per se.
A persistent problem I have been unable to fix is that the computer will not turn off automatically when shutting it down, without holding the power button at the end of the shutdown sequence. When booted/shutdown in verbose mode with no splash screen it appears to come to a halt appropriately it just does not turn off. This is not a hardware issue as it turns off fine with OS X (dual booted). I have found some vague descriptions that this is an ACPI bug. I have upgraded to the latest stable kernel version 4.10.0 but this has not made any difference. I have looked at the system logs and I will admit I am not an expert at interpreting these things but can't see anything obvious causing it not to switch off.
Before I just dump a lot of log files into the thread I though I ought to get some advice from people about what information would be useful and where I can find it on my system.
Can anyone give me some advice about how to identify what the problem is? I would really like to try to sort this problem if possible.
Regards,
Ollie
