Trackpad clicks and taps not working after updating to 17.10

Since updating to 17.10 from 17.04 my trackpad clicks and taps don't work.

Strangely they work on everything apart from the login page, dock and icon bar. All additional drivers are installed

Has anyone got any ideas what the problem might be?
