I use a 12" macbook from 2015 that uses the butterfly keyboard, until recently installing an out of the tree driver was necessary for the trackpad and keyboard to work, this driver now comes included in the 5.3 version of the kernel but appears it doesn't load properly as I lose functionality after rebooting or sometimes I don't get it at all.
This issue was present even before it came with the kernel and a guide I followed before to install and use the driver out of the tree suggested "always boot in "recovery mode" in order to get keyboard and touchpad recognized but having "static" screen resolution and brightness.". How does one boot ubuntu in recovery mode? and could there be any other way around this?
