Installing lubuntu on an old MacBook Pro

Hi

First of all: I'm not a technical person. I've been using Ubunto for years, but I usually have someone around to solve serious issues. In other words: Right now I don't really know what I'm doing. Please, bear this in mind when you respond. (Thank you!)

So. I have an old MacBook Pro (bought in 2010). I've downloaded Lubuntu and I've created an installation thumb drive with Etcher.

I've then inserted the thumb drive and started up the MacBook. I can read the thumb drive and I picked the option "Install lubuntu". I immediately got an error message (see attachment). There is a recommendation to go to a website, but how can I do this when I don't have a working operating system?

Any suggestions?
Thanks!
