I've been struggling to get Ubuntu installed on my iMac for the past couple of weeks, now. The method I had tried required a tool which is only available for much newer versions of Mac OS X than will run on my machine. My machine will only run 10.6.8, which is about 8 years old now.
But I did finda set of instructions for installing on a MacBook which also work to make a USB thumb drive. I got it installed and it runs.
My only issue is that Ubuntu does not seem to recognize my AirPort networking hardware so I can connect through WiFi! Does anyone know if there is a driver for 2011 iMac?
I am looking to put together an audio workstation running Ubuntu Studio, and I was wondering if I can do this running off a USB drive? Or do I need to partition the internal hard drive and install there?
Thanks for the help!
