Has anyone managed to install Mac OS X 10.5.4 via USB on a PowerBook G4?
I acquired a Powerbook G4 with 1.5GB of RAM, and am trying to do a fresh install of Mac OS X 10.5
in preparation for dual booting with Ubuntu. Alas, the only reputable copy of Mac OS X 10.5 online
doesn't seem to be recognized by Open Firmware when copied to a 16GB thumb drive.
I also found that, while SanDisk Cruzer and SanDisk Cruzer Glide 8 or 16 GB thumb drives can boot Linux installers ok,
my 32GB SanDisk Cruzer Snap thumb drive cannot.
On the theory that Open Firmware won't boot from HFS volumes on thumb drives larger than 8 GB,
or that there is something wrong with the 10.5.4 image from archive.org, I ordered an original OS X 10.5 retail install disk,
and will reply here once I get it and try it out.
