[ubuntu] Google hangout plugin

I tried to install the Google hangout plugin and keep getting an error message from the software center telling me the software does not exist. I'm thinking it's because I've got Ubuntu installed on a Macbook 2.1 and the plugins are for x86 architectures. Does anyone know of a solution or a plugin someone has created out there that will work on a Macbook?
