Folks:
Spent much of the afternoon yesterday trying to find a basic way to have the MBPro install of Xu 14.04 64 bit run cooler, and finally found the above thread from "swedish wings" . . . detailing his development of the "macfanctld" script. I think in the past months this was recommended to me in a previous thread to deal with heat issues in LM16, but I couldn't find it; and it wasn't, still isn't clear to me how to best set the temp ranges, using it or other suggestions. I finally actually started to read the Mactel FAQ as well . . . .
https://launchpad.net/~mactel-support/+archive/ppa
So, found my way to this mactel support site, and seeing how to add this mactel ppa to sources list, and then scrolling down to macfanctld, I see older distros are listed, but no "trusty" version is mentioned . . . .
Will there be a trusty upgrade coming? Does that matter, is it OK to use the latest version?
And, at first it seemed like 14 was running cooler, but actually checking temps shows it's running warmer, so I need to fix this problem before I can use the MATE/Xub 14 system . . . please advise if macfanctld should be adjusted, or will be upgraded, to trusty--before installing it?
e.e.p.
