I have a PowerBook G4 that seems capable of running the 12.04 release without much issue. Only needed to get WiFi and run alsamixer to get sound up and running. BUT, I think I would rather run 14.04. However I have found a few issues at least with the live DVD.
First, I had to use the video= command at boot. Is this something I will have to deal with once installed -if so how? Or is this just a live boot issue?
Second, missing icons. Both the network and audio icon were missing from Live DVD. I was able to get the network icon back and was able to get a sound icon although it installed a ton of extra stuff I think. What's the best way (command) to get the speaker icon back without extra junk being added?
Third, even with a sound icon I have no sound and this time there is no alsamixer so I am stumped. How do I get it back? If it works in 12.04 shouldn't it work or be a way to make it work in 14.04?
